2010 Competitions
At the outset of every year our club looks ahead to determine which local festivals, U.S.A. National Championships, and World events we will compete in. The schedule is always subject to change, but at this point it is anticipated that we will participate as a club in at least the following events:
Arizona Dragon Boat Festival -- March, 2010, Tempe, Arizona
San Diego teams were defending champions in the Open and Mixed
500 meter races as well as the mixed 1000 meters. In addition, the
San Diego men's team turned in the fastest 500 time in 2009.
This year was even more successful than last year. San Diego
teams won the Open, Women's, Master's and Mixed divisions. In
addition, our affiliated teams from the UCSD students and cancer
survivors finished first and second in their divisions.
Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival -- July, 2010, Long Beach, California
San Diego teams are defending champions in the Open, Women,
Masters, and Mixed 500 meter distances.
San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival -- September, 2010,
San Francisco, California.
In addition, some members of our Club may participate in the following:
U.S.A. National Championships --
July, 2010, Chattanooga, Tenn.
Several members of the San Diego
teams also have been members of
the National team that represents
the U.S.A. in world championships.
International Canoe Federation
Championships -- August, 2010,
Szeged, Hungary.
San Diego paddlers often are included
in the U.S.A. teams participating in ICF
championship Events.
AND...There likely will be more opportunities for us to compete in other events as the year progresses.
